I had the privilege of attending the Forest of Reading celebrations last week in Toronto. If you don't know, the Forest of Reading award is awarded to YA and children's literature by YOU, the reader. Often schools have Forest of Reading clubs where they read all the books and then vote on them.
It was a crazy loud and energetic event at Harbourfront in Toronto. Most of the authors were in attendance which was really cool and the readers went crazy for their favourite books. You can check out the books that were nominated here.
Vicki Grant's Not Suitable for Family Viewing ended up winning the Red Maple Fiction.
Bite of the Mango by Mariatu Kamara and Susan McClelland took Red Maple Non-Fiction.
Monkeyface Chronicles by Richard Scarsbrook won the White Pine Award which surprised me. It doesn't seem too popular here but obviously it's a phenomenal book.
Make sure you add those to your to-read list and check out the other nominated titles. You might find your next favourite book!
