Telling Tales!

The authors have been revealed for Telling Tales fest and I think you're going to be pretty excited!

For those that haven't been before, Telling Tales is a festival of authors and storytelling that takes place Sunday September 16 at Westfield Heritage Village in Rockton.

In the past they've had awesome authors (Robert Munsch!) and this year is no exception.

 This year you can meet...

  • Erin Bow, author of Plain Kate.
  • Deborah Ellis, author of the Breadwinner amongst other books. I've heard her speak and she's phenomenal.
  • Lesley Livingston, author of the Wonderous Strange series
  • Norah McClintock, teen mystery author of so many good books including her newest, Guilty.
  • Richard Scrimger, funny teen author of Me and Death.
  • Vicki Vansickle, author of Words that Start with B amongst others.
I think this might be our best teen year yet! Not to mention other authors you might know like Shane Peacock.

Get all the details at tellingtales.org and I'll see you there!

Telling Tales Festival

I just glanced at the schedule for Telling Tales this year and I am SO EXCITED!

It's happening on Sunday September 18, 2011 and we are having...

Mahtab Narsimhan, Lesley Livingston and Robert Paul Weston PLUS lots of awesome childrens writers too like Jean Little and Barbara Reid, who does those awesome plasticine books.

There's also all sorts of other stuff happening too like a book swap and story telling, puppetry and more! The best part? It's free! There's also going to be free shuttles taking people from downtown, East Gate and Limeridge to the festival so it should be easy to get there.

For more information, check out the official web site at www.tellingtales.org

Supercrawl!

This Saturday is Supercrawl downtown! If you don't know what that is, check out their fantastic website here.   This Saturday is ALSO the Locke street festival and there will be buses going to and fro, so don't worry about transportation.

There's lots of awesome bands who are going to be playing and lots of amazing art (of course). Here at the library we will be announcing the winner of our children's LEGO contest and Deborah Ellis (!!!) will also be here launching her latest book, True Blue. I know a lot of you have read her books so if you want a chance to see her live and in person, come to Central Library at 1:30 p.m.
