I am pleased to announce our two Hamilton Public Library Wrestlemania Reading Challenge winners!
Jake Dunne and Paul Moore both had fabulous entries talking passionately about two of their favourite series (and, coincidentally mine), Hunger Games and Harry Potter. Congratulations, guys!
We'll hear if they're going to Wrestlemania in New Jersey in January. Fingers crossed!!

Last call for Wrestlemania!
Please get your entries into your branches this week for Wrestlemania! I haven't received that many entries yet so you have a fairly good chance of moving on to the national level and winning a trip for two to Wrestlemania!!
You can download the entry form here and write your letter on the back or type it and staple it to the entry form. Either way works!
This is open to grades 5-8 so make sure you tell your younger sibs!

Congratulations to Chris from Dundas in grade 6 and Chris from Terryberry in grade 8 who were the Hamilton Public Library winners for the Wrestlemania Reading Challenge!
Their entries go on to the American Library Association Headquarters in Chicago where they will be judged with the other entries from Ontario and Quebec. If they win, they get a trip for two to Miami, Florida for Wrestlemania!
Good luck, guys!

The challenge will run between October 22 and October 29 and if you complete the mini project, you can win a trip to Wrestlemania in Miami! For more details, check out the website.
So sorry for the hold-up!

Awesome Wrestlemania News!
You might remember that in October/November we had a Wrestlemania contest where you had to pledge to read five books to collect Wrestlemania trading cards. If you went a step further and created either a bookmark or a poster, you had a chance to win a trip to Wrestlemania in Atlanta if you were picked as the winner for our region (which includes Ontario, Quebec and the Eastern provinces).
Luke Taylor was the HPL winner with his fantastic poster depicting how he would defeat the current tag team champions with Alex Rider of the Alex Rider series. We sent his entry in to the American Library Association in Chicago so they could pick the winner from Eastern Canada and guess what??!! HE WON!! He's going to Wrestlemania in Atlanta in April! How awesome is that?! Not only that but the library has won $2000 and a set of books from Penguin and DK. We're definitely putting the money back into teen programming so watch out for some cool stuff to come.
Great job, Luke! Have fun in Atlanta!

Wrestlemania Reminder!
Just a reminder if you're doing the Wrestlemania Challenge, today is the last day to hand in your projects! You have until April 3 to read the five books you've pledged but the poster or bookmarks need to be handed in to your libraries today.
So far the entries have been great and I can't wait to see the newest ones!

Wrestlemania Reading Challenge in full swing!
The Wrestlemania Reading Challenge started this past Saturday. You have until October 25th - Monday - to pick up and complete a pledge form so get thee to a library! All the details are here if you have no idea what I'm talking about. You only have to pledge to read 5 books by April, guys. I know a lot of you read 12 books over three months, this should be a piece of cake!
Good luck with the projects! I'm looking forward to seeing them when they're all done!
Also in poll news, 55.56% of you use facebook and the rest aren't on any social networking sites at all! I am guilty of being on practically every social networking site - I like connecting online. I'm thinking about making a facebook just for teens at HPL so I was curious how many people were on it and if that would be an easier way of keeping in touch than email or blogging. The jury is out! Check out this week's poll on gaming!

Wrestlemania Reading Challenge!
Hello October! To most people October means Hallowe'en. In the library world, October means Teen Read Week. This year for Teen Read Week, we are doing something extra amazing - a Wrestlemania Reading Challenge!
If you're feeling extra ambitious, design a poster or bookmark (depending on your grade), and you might win a trip for two to Wrestlemania XXVII in Atlanta!
All the details are on the teen page. The contest is open for grades 5-12 so if you have younger siblings, make sure you let them know!
