Cover Story: The Power of Six

So the cover for the sequel to I Am Number Four has been released...

I.... am not feeling it. It looks a bit juvenile to me and I sort of hate the font. Maybe that was a bit harsh. Harsh but true!

I suppose they're trying to make them look like science fiction without screaming alien. But honestly? If I saw this book and knew nothing about it? I don't know if I'd turn it over to see what it was about.

Hopefully the movie cover (because let's not kid ourselves, this really is more about a movie franchise than a book) will be nicer.

What do you think? Am I being super harsh? Can science fiction covers be done well without looking cheesy? (I think the answer is yes!)

(I asked a fellow librarian. Her response: "... what is that supposed to be?" Glad I'm not the only one confused!)

I think your right Kat, to me this looks like the cover of a book that is mandatory reading for a kid in grade school, not appealing at all.

It's weird too because there's a lot of money behind this book. You'd think they could afford a better designer. Oh well!
