Teen Review: Fly Away by Nora Rock

Fly Away is about a group of cheerleaders, who compete in competitions and have fun, but when one of their cheerleaders, Emma gets hurt, everything changes. For starters, Marnie, the main character takes Emma's place as flyer, which has always been her dream. There's also a new teammate that they have to try to welcome, but that's a bit hard, considering that they all miss Emma. On top of everything they're dealing with, Marnie also has to deal with her boyfriend, who seems distant and Arielle, who seems to be hiding something. Arielle is an artist, and when she disappears, right when the provincial championship is going on, Marnie becomes desperate. Coach Saylor makes her head cheerleader, and she has to decide whether or not to still do provincials without Arielle. They all decide not to do provincials, but Arielle is still missing.

(Kat's note: Spoiler Alert!)
After looking and looking, Marnie comes over some evidence that Arielle might be staying with an artist that uses young artists to make art pieces. Marnie goes to his home, and finds Arielle there, but she doesn't want to leave, and it also turns out that the artist isn't actually using them. They get credit for it. Arielle really wants to go to an art college, and this artist is her mentor. After having talked to Arielle, Marnie's life sort of falls back into place. She makes up with her boyfriend, and her life seems good again.

An AMAZING book... must read!
