What happens when Katniss becomes a contestant in the Hunger Games, an annual event that forces 24 teens into an unpredictable environment where there are no rules, just to survive when 23 other people want you dead. To prepare for the games, all contenders have interviews and one of the other competitors professes his love for her, when either one or both of them has to die. When a new rule made about half way through this year’s games says that two people can win, she immediately sets out to find him, knowing he is still alive. When she finally fines him, he is severely injured and she heals him until there is only one other boy alive. Once they’re forced to go to the main lake for water they run into the last person and some really weird animals that are going to kill them slowly if they stay on the ground. When Katniss shoots the last boy with an arrow and he falls to the wild beasts, it takes a day for the cannon to go off, signalling the boy has died, they think the games are over until the speakers says that the rule from before, about the two people living, is no longer a rule, so one of the two star-crossed lovers have to kill the other but who? How will they sort this out? You’ll have to read it to find out. It was so great.

THIS BOOK WAS THE MOST AMAZING BOOK I HAVE EVERY READ. THE EMOTIONS THE BRAVERY AND THE ROMANCE THAT PEETA SUDDENLY DECLARES DOESN'T SEEM SO CONVINCING. A MUST READ ONCE YOU PICK OF THIS BOOK YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO BUT IT DOEN. SORT OF LIKE TWILIGHT BUT WITHOUT ALL SUPERNATURAL STUFF... EVEN IF THE BOOK TAKES PLACE IN THE FUTURE. THE MAIN CHARACTER IS TORN BTWEEN THE BOY THAT SHE SURVIVED THE GAMES WITH OR THE GUY THAT TAUGHT HER THE SKILLS THAT HELP HER WHILE TRYING TO WIN THE GAMES... i LOVED IT IT IS MUST READ.... ONE HUNDRED STARS OUT OF 10 .. : D "D "D

Sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen lives with her mother and sister in the country of Panem, consisting of a rich Capitol and twelve bordering districts. Every year there is an annual televised game show in which 24 tributes fight till death. One boy and girl from each district is randomly chosen. From District 12, Primrose (Katniss's sister) and Peeta Mellark (a bakers son) are selected as District 12's representatives. Horrified that her sister got selected, Katniss offers to replace her sister, sacrificing her life for her sister. Hence, 24 boys and girls are trapped in an arena forced to fight till the bloody death. Before the game begins, each tribute is interviewed and it is at this time Katniss befriends Peeta. However as the game begins, Katniss seperates from Peeta as this is a 'one man for himself ' game. The death toll increases soon but both Katniss and Peeta evade death. Katniss puts on an act of 'star crossed lovers' resulting in the rules of the game to change. Now two tributes from the same district can win the game. Katniss and Peeta eventually win the game but at the end Katniss expresses her feelings for Peeta as just a friend. This book was a thought-provoker and a true page-turner. It was nearly impossible for me put the book down. WARNING: this book is tempting and can cause you to avoid doing your homework!!!!

The Hunger Games is one of my favourite books it's earned a special place on my bookshelf. When you read this book, I would recommend that you start it in the morning or you'll be up until early in the morning! This book has everything; action, danger, weapons, sacrifice, betrayal, hope, and romance!!! All tied together in one HUGE nightmare of an awesome adventure in which Katniss and Peeta get thrown into by the luck of the draw. Katniss and Peeta face their national event, the hunger games with no promise of ever returning home to their families or even living through the night. That is The Hunger Games, the best book I've read this summer!

Sixteen year old Katniss lives with her mother and younger sister. They are a poor family living in Panem which is the Remains of the USA. Each district must send one girl and one boy to compete in a game called "Hunger Games". Katniss's sister is chosen by lottery Katniss descides to go in her place. Although things may change in the game one thing always stays the same "kill or be killed".Its a really good book!

Although this book may be a little from normal, (24 kids in a jungle arena trying to kill eachother isn't normal, is it?) it was thrilling! After Prim, a young 12 year old girl, is chosen to be a contestant in the Hunger Games, her sister, Katniss, volunteers to take her place. This is an act of complete love. The boy from her district, Peeta, who also gets chosen, claims to be desperately in love with Katniss. This adds a surprising twist that the audience of the Games adore. The idea of star-crossed lovers both competing in the Games gets such a response the Capitol decides to change the "only one survivor allowed" rule; making it possible for Peeta & Katniss to work and strategize together. Katniss uses her skills aquired over a lifetime of hunting in the forbidden forest to help her pick off her opponents and slowly draw her and "her true love" closer to victory. Read this book! It's such a nail-biting read; an extreme thriller!

This book is about a 16 year old girl named Katniss Everdeem who is entering a very dangerous game called the hunger games and she is entered with a boy named Peeta and they are from district 12. So now the game is about you have to survive in a jungle with people from all districts trying to kill you and if you survive then you win a time supply of food and other things. so now Peeta is all nice to her but then she realizes that he might be the one killing her so she shouldn't be so nice to him.it keeps me reading andi just can't put the book down and you keep flipping the pages until your done.

The Hunger Games was recommended to me by my school librarian and is one of the top books I have ever read. Although I had my doubts about the book they were gone by the end, after being washed away by a sea of action and suspense. Although at some parts disturbing, I would reccomend this book to anyone who is looking for a new book which is quite unlike anything else out there.

I read this book only because my friend forced me to. having been considered a book snob by them for far too long, I read it to convince them that I could indeed stomach non-classic novels - I just didn't enjoy it. I opened The Hunger Games expecting the worst (as I had always found teen books to be vapid and superficial) but as I began to read further, I was drawn into the world of Katniss Everdeen. Unlike other teen books I have read (ahem, twilight), The Hunger Games was well-written, had multi-faceted characters and had a growing and evolving plot line. The relationship between Peeta and Katniss hooked my emotions, the eloquent writing style assured me of its sophistication and the fast-paced and suspenseful plot-line kept me hanging word-on-word until the exhilarating finale; overall, this is one of the best books I have ever read and I can't wait for the sequel!

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen lives in a world where a powerful government called the Capitol has risen up after several devastating disasters. There is an annual televised event where the Capitol randomly selects one boy and one girl from each of the twelve districts, who are suddenly plunged into a game of survival and forced to kill each other until only one remains. In this game, strategy is key, and Katniss will do anything to survive for her little sister Prim's sake. Even pretend to be in love, with a boy who's probably planning on killing her... The excitement in this story makes it hard to put the book down!

The Hunger Games was recommended to me by a friend and I wasn't sure if I wanted to read it at first. But I am so glad I did. Suzanne Collins leads you brilliantly through the development of Katniss, the main character, as she deals with the rapid change the Games have brought to her life. The touch of romance amidst all the survival scenarios makes the book perfect. Katniss and Peta are thrown into the Games knowing there is a very slim chance for them to survive the first day. But Katniss is determined that she will not go out without a fight. The suspense and action packed plot left me dying for the second book. ( doesn't come out until September, although the Library already seems to have ordered it). Definitely one of my all time favs.

The book is about 24 kids trapped in an arena a boy and girl from each district. They have to fight to find food. The last person alive wins. There was a great deal of suspense throughout the book making it hard to determine who would be the winner.

The hunger Games, is without a doubt one of the best books i have read in several years! The style of writing Susan Collins uses is rare in modern books. All of the characters have depth and feeling to them, usually the author only spares time for the main characters, a horrible flaw. Katniss was pretty cool, a little depressing though. Peeta, (i didn't really like him) was kinda boring but totally sweet and innocent. All in all it was a roller coaster ride of meh, and totally awesome.

It's about a 16 year old girl, Katniss, who is forced into the Hunger Games, a competition between 24 12-18 year olds, purely for the government to tell the districts that they reign the world and that the districts can do nothing about it. Um...yeah, that's the main plot.In addition to that, Katniss finds potential romance, suspense, allies, enemies, and a very very sad game....
