Review: She's So Dead to Us

She’s SoDead to Us by Kieran Scott

Allie has had a hard couple of years. Her dad lost all of their family’s money (and the money of a bunch of their friends) in a really bad investment, forcing them from their home. They left their town in a rush, and Allie thought that she would never return. She was wrong. Two years later, she is on her way back to her old home, her old school, and her old friends. Too bad all her friends blame Allie for her dad’s investment. She is completely shunned by all her old friends. The only one that is remotely nice is Jake, who currently lives in her old house. Meanwhile, all the rest of her old friends are determined to make her life miserable. If it’s not snide comments about Allie’s dad, or that she isn’t rich anymore, they are pranking her. They even go so far as to declare a few fake truces, and then stab her in the back again. Not to mention that former friend, Shannon, keeps threatening to tell a secret that Allie doesn’t want anyone to know. Ever. It’s going to be a long school year.

I enjoyed this book. It was fun to read. What I really liked was that the story was told from both Allie’s and Jake’s point of views. It was fun to see how they both reacted to a situation. This is a light-hearted read that is great for those days that you don’t want to be too serious. What was a bit confusing was the many sub-plots, but it was funny to find out specifically why everyone hates Allie. I definitely recommend this book.
