Waiting on Wednesday...

.. but Kat, those are already released AND you're already read them. Yes, but I want the next one, Black Death, NOW.

the premise: I've already talked my head off about Red Glove in the Spring Preview post but to re-hash, it's a really cool world where magic was made illegal and so organized crime families came to power and can curse someone for you - for a price. Cassel, the main character, comes from a family of con artists and curse workers. It's a dangerous world full of powerful people who can make you forget things, give you bad luck for life, manipulate your emotions, and make you sleepwalk right into their hands (not to mention kill you with a single touch of their bare hand). The main characters and secondary characters are fantastic and you're never really sure who you can trust and who is being manipulated (or doing the manipulating)

why I'm dying to read it: I just really really love this universe. I read both books back-to-back and now I really want to dive back in. I can't really tell you too much without giving too much away, but there's a great female character that I can't wait to hear more about.

how long I have to wait: Um... a whole year. Hopefully I'll get it early but it's at least 8 months of pining.

while you're waiting: Check out White Cat if you haven't already. It's a bit of a slower read at first but once you get into it, there's lots of twists and turns that make for really enthralling reading. It's also available as an audiobook, narrated by Jesse Eisenberg, which is how I 'read' it. If the idea of magic and organized crime intrigues you, check out Dust City by Robert Paul Weston.

I had the opportunity to ask Holly Black if these were going to be turned into a movie and she mentioned that she was in talks for a tv show so here's to hoping!
