How much is your library worth to you?

Do you ever think, 'what if my library wasn't around and I had to BUY all these books/movies/cds/whatever'?!

Maine Public Library has created a little website just to figure that out. You can input what sorts of things you've used the library for in the past month and it will calculate how much value you're getting from your library. Pretty cool.

My library value? $750/month! It's a good thing I have the library to support my book addiction. 

(In contrast, if you don't actually live in Hamilton and want to buy a card, it's $40 annually. Now that seems like a steal!)
