Little Brother

This book is amazing! It was fast paced and full of adventure. You feel sorry for the characters and try to put yourself in their place. The book had youth rebellion and how moving forward with technology isn't always a good thing.

I loved the idea behind this book. I thought it was a brilliant idea; teenage geeks taking down a burgeoning police society. But the book itself? Not so much. I mean the writing had it's good parts and the plot had some cool twists but all in all it didn't live up to my expectations. Sad. The book is about a highschool geek who doesn't care for school. He has a "meh" kind of attitude toward the way the world is but a life shattering incident changes that. After a bomb explodes near him and his friends he gets pulled into Gitmo-by-the-Bay and brutally tortured. when he it becomes clear that he had no part in the bombing they let Marcus free. Even though he knows he is being monitored he decides to try and destroy the new security measures before the line between safety and privacy disappears entirely.

The Beginning was amazing!, and then it went completely downhill. Dull and boring it appeals to the typical hormonal teenager. His girlfriend bugged me, she had no personality other than liking to eat pepper spray. I would not recommend it to younger readers as it promotes lying to your parents. The Hacking part was cool though.

It was a really good book! At first i thought I wouldnt like it but then i really got into it after reading more of it! I thought it was actually a really great book I would rate it 4 out of 5.

This book was full of computer lingo, information, and facts. Halves of chapters were dedicated to attempted explanations of viruses, spam, etc and how they infiltrate your computer. The author used obscure analogies to try help you get what was going on. These didn't help. Perhaps if someone was really into computers and knew all about them, they might enjoy this book. I didn't like it-- besides all the computer tech writing, I did not warm up to Marcus at all and definately couldn't relate to him. He was very "bleh" about pretty much everything. I wouldn't recommend this book as a summer read; because it's so difficult to get through and understand.
