Today's Waiting on Wednesday is a sequel to a book that I really enjoyed last year, Abandon by Meg Cabot. The sequel is called, omoniously, Underworld.Check out that cover with that hand pulling her back under!
the premise: The Abandon series is based loosely on the myth of Persephone and Hades. In the first book, Pierce (AKA Persephone) drowned but actually escaped the underworld. The caretaker of the underworld has now taken her back down to the underworld claiming it's for her own good. It's worth mentioning that the caretaker of the underworld is swoon-worthy and has his sights set on Pierce.
why I'm dying to read it: The first book had some serious bad boy romance going on which is normally not my thing but in Meg Cabot's hands, somehow became something I really wanted to see develop. I'm hoping for a lot more of that in Underworld.
how long I have to wait: May 28! Which is more than two months away! Sad!
while you're waiting: Check out the first book, Abandon. It's really swoony and has great writing to boot. If you're feeling the whole mythology thing, you might want to pick up The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter which is also a Persephone/Hades with a twist. I would also suggest Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton which has a really awesome main character who is a bounty hunter with a family secret.
What are you waiting on this Wednesday?
