This week's pick was recommended by our collections librarian - the person who orders the kids and teen stuff, and I'm really interested in reading it.
the premise: It's a coming-of-age story of Ryan Dean West, a rugby-playing boarding school student. He struggles with the typical things teen boys struggle with - school, girls, bullies, sports. This sounds like a little slice-of-life type of book.
why I'm dying to read it: Well, the reviews mention that it's wickedly funny, awkward and enlightening and I like books that have a genuine teen voice. This sounds like it might have a sort of John Green type of feel to it, which makes me excited. It's also different than all the dystopian I've been reading lately, and I'm ready for a change. (Also, it says that it has a tragic twist and I want to know what it is!)
how long I have to wait: This comes out mid-May, so very soon!
while you're waiting check out: Spud by John Van de Ruit, another funny boarding school type book, this one takes place in South Africa. This also reminds me a bit of Looking for Alaska by John Green, one of my favourites.
