Waiting on... Wednesday

I first heard about Across the Universe because a friend had read the first chapter (available on the website) and recommended it to me. I was intrigued so I read the first chapter, and I'm definitely hooked.

the premise: Pretty standard sci-fi stuff - a spaceship of people is cryogenically frozen so they can start over on a new planet - with a twist: Amy, seventeen years old, awakes early and realizes that the crew is killing off the passengers.

why I'm dying to read it: When at first I thought it was a standard sci-fi mystery, after re-reading the summary and reviews, it seems like there is also an interesting love interest thing going on and even without the romance, it's been a while since I've read 'hard' sci-fi. If it's as good as reviews are making it sound, it's going to be an awesome read.

how long I have to wait: It comes out in January!

while you're waiting, check out: I would definitely check out the first chapter and then, if you're looking for other sci-fi stuff, check out the Best Science Fiction and Fantasy of the Year, a short story collection. The latest is volume three
