E-Readers FTW*!

I've taken the plunge and bought an e-reader! When I discovered that the books I wanted to read (Paranormalcy & Beautiful Creatures, for example) were available as e-books but the print copies either had holds or were on order, well I couldn't resist!

Now I know that in my capacity as a librarian, I'm supposed to encourage you to check things out so this might be biased, but can I just say that it was super easy? All you need is Adobe Digital Editions (free to download, like Adobe Reader) and a library card. It took me all of three or four clicks and then I was reading it! To get it on my e-reader I just had to drag and drop and it was loaded. Even if you don't have an e-reader though, you can read it on your computer. Adobe Digital Editions will remember your place in the book too which is handy.

I know this all sounds like a big advertisement for e-books but I was honestly really impressed with how easy it was. I had problems in the past with downloading audiobooks and so I had braced myself for another technological battle and then... there wasn't one. I was almost let down! (Except not).

Definitely give it a shot - I think you'll be surprised. Each e-book can only be checked out by one person at a time but you can place holds on them like normal books and it will e-mail you to let you know when it's available. If you're lucky like me and find one that's checked in, it's yours instantly. You don't even need to get out of your pjs and go to the library!

Okay, back to reading Paranormalcy! (Which, by the way, is all kinds of hilarious so far. I had no idea it was going to be funny!)

*FTW = for the win, in case you're not up on acronyms.
